Erica Charpentier, IBCLC, RLC

With so many breastfeeding helpers out there, it can be difficult to figure out who's who! To become an IBCLC, I was required to have 1,000 supervised clinical hours ,90 hours of lactation specific education, and college credits in various related fields under my belt prior to sitting for the certifying exam, which is administered by an independent certifying board (not the same organization that offers education hours).

To maintain my certification, I complete a minimum of 50 continuing education credits every five years, and I am required to re-certify by exam every ten years.
